In the Fall of 2003, Daryl Gelender and Jill Stolbach, both Dallas residents and former Greenhill private school teachers, dreamed of a place children could learn through an elaborate enrichment program taught by professionals in a summer camp environment. It was from this dream that Camp Kiowa brought its first campers to Texas Woman's University in Denton during the summer of 2004.

In 2006, following years of traditional summer camp experience, Brian and Jennifer Manhart purchased Camp Kiowa. In an effort to maintain the high-quality enrichment program already in place, and to incoorporate all the benefits of a traditional camp experience, Brian and Jennifer have continued to enhance the experience they provide all of their campers.

After 2 years of continual growth on the university campus, Brian and Jennifer decided to offer an additional enrichment experience in a more traditional camp environment. The university experience many campers have known as Camp Kiowa, has now evolved into Kiowa U. Many campers, in search of a more traditional style of overnight camp, but looking for the depth only found in an enrichment program, enjoy the experience now available at Adventure Kiowa.

As Camp Kiowa continues to focus on providing opportunities for success to their campers and staff members, Kiowa U and Adventure Kiowa will continue to introduce new enrichment programs, recreational activities, leadership programs, evening entertainment, and weekend events every year.
